Odd Facts & Trivia
All of these are actually true in real life unless noted.
Old Kit
At the start of the war lots of old kit was still in service:
* Norwegian Home Guard were using the MP40
* The US still had large stocks of M1 Garands
* Yugoslavian paratroopers were still issued the Stg44 assault rifle
* The US in 1990 still had stockpiles of M47s in Italy. One ex-Austrian M47 is owned by Arnold Schwarzenegger (number 331) which he operated in during his conscription in the Austrian army
* In the Falklands War, the British took a WWII field kitchen truck from the Imperial War Museum and sent it along with the Task Force sent to fight off the Argentines, since there was no modern equivalent that could prepare hot meals in the field. This relic field kitchen even managed to land on East Falkland — which Argentina had already evacuated — before the Parachute Regiment, who had been tasked with retaking it.
Animals
* At the start of the war, the British Army had more horses on strength than main battle tanks. By the end this was definitely true...
* The British still have a medal that can be awarded to animals only.

Vehicles
* The M993 Fox NBC Vehicle is popular in British service as it has a CD player (designed to download updates but it can play music) but less popular as the soldiers are told it has difficulty wading as it leaks, somewhat worrying in an NBC vehicle...
